Insulation Company (NEIC) specializes in the insulation of mechanical systems for the industrial, commercial and process markets. As a union shop with territory spanning the six New England states, New York and New Jersey, New England Insulation claims an expansive customer base. And, our most recent work draws from diverse industries, such as power plants, hospitals, pharmaceutical production, educational institutions, and commercial high-rises. Based on the customer?s needs, maintenance and new construction projects are charged on either a lump sum basis or cost plus contracts..

New England Insulation has deep roots in the New England community, beginning in 1935 when the company began as an expansion of the Rhode Island Covering Company. Founded by Arthur E. Swanson, and subsequently led by his son Arthur, the company has been guided by Theodore Brodie since the late 1960?s. Theodore, otherwise known as Ted, joined the firm in 1956 as Arthur?s son-in-law, and eventually became the sole share holder. During this time, New England Insulation operated as both a distributor and a contractor to streamline the business process..

Under Ted's leadership, New England Abatement Resources joined New England Insulation in 1982 to address the growing asbestos removal industry that had burgeoned in the late 1970's. Other major developments in the company's history include the 1999 sale of the distribution division to Bay Insulation of Wisconsin. As the insulation industry morphed to meet modern day business practices, it became common practice to separate the distribution and contract divisions. To increase their competitive edge, New England also pursued this course of action..

In 2000, Ted Brodie continued the tradition of transitioning the family business to the next generation, and Blake Underhill joined the team as Chief Operations Officer. He continued in that role until 2006 when he was awarded the title of president..

As president of New England Insulation and New England Abatement, Blake manages all day-to-day operations, while Ted retains the title of Chairman of the Board. Under Blake's efficient and innovative leadership, both companies are thriving, even during these challenging economic times.

Presently, New England Insulation is the second largest insulator in the New England region, consistently generating over millions in sales each year. New England Abatement Resources is also one of the foremost companies in the field. This success is based in large part on the consistent quality of workmanship, positive professional relationships and a commitment to the highest professional standards.

The caliber of personnel at New England Insulation is exceptional. A noticeable work ethic and company loyalty among our working foremen, supplemented by a cadre of regular union craftsmen, is apparent in everything we do. Our field staff is tuned to the varying work schedules our markets demand, and our workers respond to the challenge. At NEIC, we are proud to say long-term employment is the norm, and project managers are skillfully trained to provide consistent follow-through on every job, with keen attention to detail and schedule. Yet the team isn't just the workers at the job-site. Like any well organized team, many of the big decisions happen behind the lines. Our work ethic and idea of teamwork starts at the top and pervades the company.

Sincerely,

Blake B. Underhill
